i really liked this anime but i do think you did have some points and it could have been better. but i think lucy killing all those people was nessacery to make the viewer kind of torn between likeing her and hating her just like the main character has to.

it would be nice to have cool explosions and stuff but this anime is basically a love story and the target adience probably doesn't care about that kind of stuff

this was probably one of my all time favorite animes especially the fummoff series so i think u were right on the ball
